What Are You Doing This Winter?

Looks like stay-cations for all of us.

But, here’s the good news….stay-cation, does not have to mean stay-home. Perhaps you can take your sled and spend a few days breaking untouched snow, and taking in some of the best scenery that a stay-cation has to offer.

Here’s what we’ve got:

The Best Location

Situated in the heart of the Long Range Mountains, the northernmost reach of the Appalachian mountain chain, Eagle Mountain Lodge is a true wilderness resort offering guests some of the world’s finest snowmobiling experiences. The Lodge is located 70 km north of the Town of Deer Lake and borders the world-renowned Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Most Amazing Snow

The region is blessed with some of the highest snow cover in Eastern Canada (generally 8 to 12 feet deep), making for unparalleled back-country snowmobiling through river valleys and high-elevation open countryside (there are no groomed trails once reaching the Lodge). Guests are treated to spectacular views of the rugged, glacially-carved landscape and uninterrupted views from horizon to horizon.

The Lodge sits beside the Main River, one of the premier salmon fishing rivers in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Designated a Canadian Heritage River, the Main passes through softwood forests, grasslands, floodplains and arctic-like barrens, with glacial valleys and deep canyons highlighting the impressive geology of the region. Moose, caribou and black bear make their homes here, together with lynx, mink, beaver, river otters and foxes.

The Luxurious Lodge

Constructed from the finest locally-sourced timber, the Lodge provides our guests the necessary luxuries and comforts in a warm, inviting setting. The focal point is the Main Living Room, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, wrap-around decks and stunning views over the Main River and the mountains of Gros Morne National Park.

At the end of the day, you can enjoy a coffee by the magnificent fireplace and savor the aromas from the kitchen while our staff prepares wholesome meals featuring local ingredients. Meals are served in the Dining Room adjacent to the Main Living Room.

If you are interested in booking an adventure with us you should call or email us ASAP. The best dates tend to book up quickly once we see snow on the ground.
