Situated in the heart of the Long Range Mountains, the northernmost reach of the Appalachian mountain chain, Eagle Mountain Lodge is a true wilderness resort offering guests some of the world's finest salmon fishing and snowmobiling experiences. The Lodge is located 70 km north of the Town of Deer Lake and borders the world-renowned Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The region is blessed with some of the highest snow cover in Eastern Canada (generally 8 to 12 feet deep), making for unparalleled back-country snowmobiling through river valleys and high-elevation open countryside (there are no groomed trails once reaching the Lodge). Guests are treated to spectacular vistas of the rugged, glacially-carved landscape and uninterrupted views from horizon to horizon.
The Lodge sits beside the Main River, one of the premier salmon fishing rivers in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Designated a Canadian Heritage River, the Main passes through softwood forests, grasslands, floodplains and arctic-like barrens, with glacial valleys and deep canyons highlighting the impressive geology of the region. Moose, caribou and black bear make their homes here, together with lynx, mink, beaver, river otters and foxes.
